Written by Henry M | Sep 14, 2022 5:15:00 PM

The eye, lap, and stop sleeve splicing of cables is done with a tool called a handswager. Handswagers are tools that assure a tight and clean compression every time. In today’s blog we are going to be looking at three handswaging tools offered at Loos Cableware Division. Each of these tools make eye, lap, and stop sleeve splicing of cables easy. Our swagers are domestically manufactured at our Naples, Florida facility. The three hand swagers we will be looking at three of our handswagers, the 0-9/32, 0-5/16, and the #1-SC. Continue reading to learn more about these three handswagers.

Locoloc® 0-9/32 Handswager:

Our 0-9/32 tool swages 9/32” oval sleeves. The length of the tool is 28” and weighs 5 lbs. Similar to our other swaging tools, to extend service life the tool should be regularly cleaned and lubricated, bolts kept tight, and swage properly adjusted.

Locoloc® 0-5/16 Handswager:

The 0-5/16 tool swages 5/16” oval sleeves. The tool has the same length and weight as the 0-9/32 swager. The design of the tool features an over center leverage, that transmits a powerful snap-action to the final thrust of the jaws. The design leads to clean compressions every time.

Locoloc® #1-SC Handswager:

This tool is a multi-compression hand swager with cable cutters. #1-SC swages 1/16”, 3/32”, 1/8”, 5/32”, and 3/16” oval and stop sleeves. The tool can also swage 7/32” stop sleeves for a total of 11 sizes. The #1-SC cuts up to 7/32” diameter aircraft quality steel cable. The length of the tool is 26” and weighs 6.5 lbs.
