BrushKing® and the History of our Shearing Knives

BrushKing® was founded by Gus Loos in the mid-1980s. While traveling in Germany, Loos came across a knife blade maker who made high-quality, durable blades. Loos struck up a deal with the blade maker to begin buying blades for what would become BrushKing®.

In early 1985, BrushKing® was born, and the product line has been in business ever since. Today, we ship to customers all over the world. Our BrushKing® shearing knives are the number one choice for Christmas Tree shearing, chosen by many Christmas Tree distributors. Read on to learn about some of the shearing knives we offer and how you can use them.

83RB-1683RB-16:

The BrushKing® 83RB-16 Shearing Knife has a 1” X 16” blade and a 5 ½” long ash wood handle. The blade features a German stainless-steel blade with a razor edge for a superior cutting experience. This shearing knife was crafted to eliminate the heaviness and rigidness that other shearing knives have. It was designed to minimize wrist and forearm fatigue that traditionally comes along with heavy weight shearing.

83RB-16/10ST:

The BrushKing® 83RB-16/10ST Shearing Knife features a 1” X 16” blade and a 10” long ash wood handle. This shearing knife was crafted with a high-strength, durable German stainless steel blade, which provides users with a superior cutting experience while eliminated heaviness. This shearing knife also comes with shrink tube around the handle. Shrink tube is a strong band of material used on the knife handle to eliminate splitting while shearing tough, seasoned limbs.

83RK-16/14: 83RK-16/14

The BrushKing® 83RK-16/14 Shearing Knife was crafted with a high-quality 1” X 16” German stainless-steel serrated edge blade. This knife also features a 14” long light weight ash wood handle. This shearing knife was designed to give you a comfortable grip while shearing, minimizing wrist and forearm fatigue.

Shearing Knife Uses:

Shearing knives are mainly used in tree trimming. It is extremely important to maintain Christmas trees through the trimming or shearing process because shearing promotes healthy, longer lasting trees. Christmas tree distributors use BrushKing® shearing knives to maintain the aesthetics and health of their trees. Shearing knives can also be used by landscapers to trim hedges, bushes, and shrubs. Shearing knives are also used on banana plantations to remove dead or diseased leaves from the banana plants.
