An Overview of Pruning & Grafting Knives

Pruning and grafting knives are popular items on the BrushKing® store. However, it is very important to understand the differences between these products to get the tools best suited for your application. In today’s blog we are going to look at some key differences between pruners and grafting knives, the industries these tools are best suited towards, and how to properly take care of the products for longevity.

Pruning Knives:

We currently have two types of pruning knives available, MODEL 203/10 and 206/11. MODEL 203/10 is a medium duty knife with a 2” carbon steel blade. MODEL 206/11 is a heavy-duty knife, also with a 2” carbon steel blade. Both blades are made in Germany and have a polished wood handle. A pruning knife has a very shape blade and is ideal for cutting small shrubs and branches. Pruning knives are also used for cutting flowers and vine pruning. We sell pruning knives to various industries, with a focus on landscaping, vineyards, and for farming.

Grafting Knives:

BrushKing® has two grafting knives, MODEL 208-10 and MODEL 6485-22. MODEL 208-10 has a 2” narrow pointed carbon steel blade and folds into a brass lined handle. MODEL 6485-22 has a 2” stainless steel blade that also folds into a brass lined handle. Both tools are Made in Germany and comfortably fit in your hands. Grafting knives are typically thin sharp blades that are beveled on one side only. Grafting is commonly used for fruit trees to cut through tough wood.

Cleaning Tips:

When using pruning and grafting knives it is important to remember to clean the tools off after use. Preventing rust is crucial to ensure that your knives are able to last.
